Committees
1. PARET: Mark Yordy Activities include the Health & Safety Expo on April 6th, Pierce County Lahar Exercise on April 13th (PARET will activate for this exercise), and will operate on solar recharging of batteries for the weekend Field Day in June. Have had a drill using 5 watts of power and used solar charging. Had 2 stations, 11 operators, 24 participants & visitors. 272 contacts in all of US call zones and 34 states plus Canada. Placed 3rd in Western Washington section. December 7 & 8, Pearl Harbor – 4 stations during the day and 2 stations at night. 551 contacts. Fire District #16 held a license class with 1 complete station at #16 HQ. Fire District #5 installing a packet radio at the EOC, 5-1 is on the air. The Canterwood development wants a HAM radio operator there in the neighborhood and wants to pursue emergency preparedness. 2. Webmaster: Sue Gillmore (not in attendance) Written report received re hits, search terms used are: emergency preparedness, earthquake preparedness, water, barrels for sale, water storage, water barrels, earthquakes and volcanoes. Average hits – 7 per day.
3. Training: Candy Anderson (not in attendance) Discussed November 19th training session for PEP-C folks. Sue, Candy, JoAnne, the Lees, the Ramsdells, Dave were in attendance. Worked on presentation of preparedness lessons. Talked about relationship with county for training of communities. Dave agreed to meet with county folks.
4. Water Barrels: Marsh Allen Will get 30 barrels delivered to Station 5-1 for Saturday sale. Hugh, Gretchen and Fred will work on Jan 19th sale. Marsh did work event, Dave took all remaining barrels, sold 12 to school district. March 16th sale – Don, Dave and Hugh will work. Hugh will get barrel sale notices in papers.
5. P.I.O.: Hugh McMillan Hugh McMillan reported very good relationship with Gateway, like to cover community. They are easy to work with, will try to put water info into next edition.
6. KGHP: Hugh McMillan for Keith Stiles KGHP began running on a full schedule and things have been going fine. Went to 24 hour days on the 2nd week of December. Once snowstorm was covered for school schedules changes. Have power backup for computers so power variances are harmless. Received and appreciated funds from PEP-C ($1,000) for the new emergency facility at Springhill (104.5) Designs is complete and parts are being ordered. Appreciate CenturyTel for emergency phone line to Springhill to backup both cells phones and communication by HAM radio with Peninsula Emergency Operations Center. The Emergency Proacast System is being replaced.
7. Peninsula School District: Dave Watson reported progress of the Pierce Responder System

OLD BUSINESS
1. KGHP/PEP-C stickers – check Molly, Harbor Printer (HUGH) Moved, seconded and approved to authorize $200 for stickers.
2. Stormwatch – Marv and Dave presented possible source for radios for us to sell. We discussed if we should do this, put into stores etc. Moved, seconded and approved to purchase four test radios. (Marv)
NEW BUSINESS
1. Barrel Trailer: discussed and decided to abandon this task.
2. Cover for events & sales. Moved, seconded and approved to purchase a cover from Costco.
3. Letter of appreciation to Larry Claiborne’s retirement. Moved, Seconded & approved dinner certificate to Anthony’s. Dave will do.
4. Livable Community Fair: Feb 9, 2002 at airport; WILL DO: Staff one booth, Don Marv, Marsh, Joe Time: 9 am - 5 pm
5. Health & Safety Expo: April 6th at Station 5-0; WILL DO: Staff booth inside (Joe, Marv, Fred, Don, JoAnne)and sell barrels outside. (Dave) Time: 10 am - 3 pm
6. Chamber of Commerce: discussed joining; Moved, Seconded & approved to join; Joanne will do.
7. Partners in Emergency Preparedness – April 2,3 Bellevue, $195/person; Dave will attend for school district; PEP-C attendees will be Marv & Hugh with Bob as backup, register Feb 1st.
8. PEP-C members, reminder to prepare own neighborhoods.
